Best Trip – Petrogliphos  of Phusharo 5 days

Best Trip – Petrogliphos  of Phusharo  5 day/ 4 night / Bus .

On the banks of the Palatoa River in the Manu National Park, Madre de Dios, is the largest petroglyph in Peru, which was carved between 1000 and 2000 AD. In 2003 it was recognized as the archaeological heritage by the National Institute of Culture of Peru (manu park).

The first description of the petroglyphs was made by the Dominican missionary Vicente de Cenitagoya in 1921. Dr. Carlos Neuenschwander from Arequipa studied the site of Pusharo in 1969. In addition to its gigantic size, the engravings draw our attention. Many scholars argued that such drawings were related to the legendary kingdom of Paititi in the manu national reserve in the community of Palotoa.

Most of the glyphs represent the hunting of animals, and even when they have not been able to successfully decipher the drawings, the closest interpretation would be the one that supports Reichel-Dolmatoff and Schultes & Hofmann: the petroglyphs are representations of the realized Amazonian mythological people by shamans. , influenced by the use of hallucinogenic plants.

Not far from the petroglyphs, the recent discovery of giant figures carved on the eastern side of a mountain, may also significantly change our knowledge of the Incas here and the theory of their influence on Amazonian peoples, but it has not been proven yet.
